Why We Avoid Seed Oils (And What We Use Instead)

Seed oils are everywhere.
In chips, salad dressings, mayo, even “health” snacks. And most people don’t even know they’re eating them.
At Naked Grocery, we believe in eating real food — and for us, that means ditching seed oils for good. Here’s why we made the switch, what we avoid, and what we use instead.
🚫 What Are Seed Oils? (And Why We Skip Them)
Seed oils are highly refined vegetable oils like:
- Canola oil (rapeseed)
- Soybean oil
- Corn oil
- Sunflower oil
- Cottonseed oil
- Safflower oil
They’re often heated, chemically treated, and deodorized to be shelf-stable. While they’re cheap and common in packaged food, they’re also linked to:
- Inflammation
- Oxidative stress
- Potential metabolic disruption
We’re not doctors — but we are paying attention. And the more we learn, the more we prefer simple, traditional fats.
✅ What We Use Instead

💡 Real-Life Tip:
Next time you’re at a store, flip over a “healthy” product. You’ll be surprised how many contain canola, soybean, or sunflower oil. Even organic crackers, granola, and hummus.
If you see it → skip it.
Look for tallow, butter, avocado oil, olive oil, or coconut oil instead.
